Installation Method Overview – Chemical DPC Injection

Purpose of the Method

The installation method determines whether a chemical DPC forms a continuous damp-proof course.

Product choice alone does not compensate for poor drilling, incorrect injection height, or incomplete coverage.

DPC Injection Installation Method

1. Identify the Injection Line

  • Set the injection line at the intended DPC height
  • Typically just above external ground level or internal floor level
  • Maintain a consistent horizontal line across the wall, including returns and junctions

Bridging above or below this line will compromise performance.

2. Drill Preparation

  • Drill along the injection line at the required spacing
  • Drill depth must account for render, plaster, and finishes
  • Holes should reach close to the 50% of substrate thickness

Drilling must suit the wall type and construction.

5. Wall-Specific Adjustments

Method adjustments may be required for:

  • Thick masonry
  • Mixed or rubble-filled walls
  • Stone or sandstone construction
  • High moisture or salt content
  • Extruded bricks should be injected above the extrusions to allow product to fill the extrusions below

No single method suits all walls.

6. Post-Injection Considerations

  • Allow time for the DPC to establish
  • Drying and evaporation occur gradually
  • Follow-on works should allow for this process
  • Silonexx travels through the masonry until the available volume is exhausted
  • Full saturation is typically visible within 24 hours

Common Installation Errors

  • Incorrect injection height
  • Inconsistent drilling depth
  • Missed returns or internal walls
  • Inadequate coverage
  • Treating unsuitable wall types without adjustment

These issues commonly lead to failure.
